Carpe Diem
Oh! May I make each moment of my life a gem,
Flawless and brilliant, blazing with white flame,
Glowing with red, burning with blue, yet all the same
In brilliance. So in old age when I look back on them
Their blaze combined may turn life to a diadem.
Or may I turn each moment to a flower,
Those of seclusion violets, mistry, rare,
Moments of passion roses, lilies for those of prayer,
That when I come to my last fading poppied hour
On looking back my fragrant life may seem a bower.
